Where the streets meet the soul.

13 59 Beats is the moniker of Sean Russell — Jamaican-born, Barbados-based music producer, composer, and creative director. His sound sits at the intersection of soulful melody and street-forged rhythm: warm, cinematic, and unmistakably Caribbean in its DNA.

Sean's journey into music began where many great stories do — on film. He composed the original score for The Kite Flyer, a self-produced feature film that earned Festival Pick at the 2007 Bridgetown Film Festival. That experience shaped everything: the idea that music should serve a story, carry an emotion, and leave something behind.

From that foundation, 13 59 Beats grew into a full creative universe. Three studio albums — Genesis, The Sequel, and Triad — map a journey through reggae, jazz, soul, hip-hop, EDM, and funk, all held together by the same guiding thread: grown folks music. The kind that hits different when you've lived a little. Rooted in the influence of Earth, Wind & Fire, Prince, and the music of the 70s through 90s, every release carries that legacy forward into something new.

The debut vocal single "Break My Guard Down" broke through on the global stage, peaking at #71 on the UK Apple Music charts. The Kite Flyer is now back — reimagined as a gripping microseries, with new episodes landing weekly. An album and two new singles are on the way.

This is music built for people who feel it, not just hear it.
